about

The MUGEN mouse database (MMdb) is being developed & curated in the context of the MUGEN Network of Excellence.

Data Submission & Curation
Currently, only registered users are allowed to submit and modify data. All data were kindly submitted by MUGEN participating researchers & curated by the MMdb curation team.
The MMdb curation team surveys journals and other online resources, collects all the data and processes the submission of each mutant mouse individually prior to its final deposition into the database. Submissions are checked for accuracy, and completeness of biological information, including genetic, strain, allelic and mutational features. Once curation of a particular mouse is finalized the MMdb developing team, in close collaboration with the responsible researcher, works towards bringing the data into standardised formats, resolving issues pertinent to nomenclature and referential integrity.
Overall, gene, allelic and mutational nomenclature is assigned according to rules and guidelines for mouse genes and strains given by MGI and based on Gene Ontology (GO), Mammalian Phenotype (MP) terminology and international nomenclature standards. Since version 2.1.0 MMdb is also utilizing the PATO rationale to describe mammalian phenotypes.

Technical Specifications
MMdb is a J2EE application based on the EJB 2.1 specification and the MVC2 architecture.
MMdb is the front-end of a relational PostgreSQL 8.1.3 database.
